Cala Conta or Platges de Comte in the Ibizan dialect has three charming beaches. One is backed by cliffs, the other by sand dunes and the last one is popular for nudist. Due to its breathtaking views of the little islands near Ibiza’s captivating coastline, a truly lovely crystal clear shallow turquoise water that is safe for children of all ages and long stretches of white sand, both locals and tourist consider this beach the most beautiful on the island.

It is also, one of the most exceptional spots to watch the spectacular sunset. A reason why a lot of people gather here as the when the sun is about to kiss the ocean.

Cala Conta is 800 meters long and 60 meters wide with sandy beach with two main beaches and a little cove. It is in the southwest of Ibiza in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia.

Its clear blue and turquoise water due to the constant flow of sea currents in the area. The seafloor is mainly sandy with rocks on the sides and outcrops that make it interesting for snorkeling. During the summer months, the beach gets overly crowded and the parking gets extremely busy. It is not advisable to park on the side of the road, as it is probihited.

How to get there:

Platges de Comte is 26 kilometers from Ibiza town and it can be reached by car, cab, bus and ferry. If you chose the bus or the ship, the lines could be to Cala Conta, Cala Conte, or Cala de Comte. From the Sant Antoni bus station, take the bus number L4. From the Sant Antoni port, there are a few ferry lines. For the cab, the price can be up to 30 euros from Ibiza Town. If you rent a car or a scooter from Ibiza city, take the way EI-700 to Sant Josep. Pass the Sant Josep town and continue to the direction of Sant Agustí des Vedrà. On the left, take the road with signs going to Platges de Comte, Cala Bassa. There used to be a parking lot just behind the beach but unfortunately, the municipality restricted it in spite of the increasing numbers of cars coming to park there. Therefore, people now have to park a few meters away and walk to the beach.

Did you know?

The name Comte is derived from the thousands of operculum shells mixed with the sand coarse-grained in the coves. The Ibizan used to pick them up and used the operculum shells as beads to count points in games. Platges de Comte means the beads beaches.

The islands infront of Cala Comte are S’Epartar Illa des Bosc and Sa Conillera.


What to see:

The west coast of Ibiza is known for its magical moment of sunset, Platges de Comte is one of the most favorite places to watch the sunset go down.

The natural and perfect landscape composition comprises four nearby islets: S’illa des Bosc, S’illa de SA Conillera, Ses Blades y S’Espartar. The sky shows fantastic colors when the sun vanishes, painting the land gold.

What to do:

You will find a great large cave called Sa Figuera Borda, if you walk from the cliff down the stairs to the sea. People usually go for yoga, swimming and admiring the beautiful sunset.

The Sunset Ashram is a popular beach restaurant located on the coast’s central part. It features DJs playing Balearic music as well as live music, Ibiza’s soundtrack. You should go there to dance and have fun, particularly in this restaurant, while saying goodbye to the sun and hello to the stars.

Ses Roques is one more restaurant located on the right hand side of the coast. The terrace is of course one of the three fortunate restaurants on the beach in Platges de Comte.
