Did you know?

The first to settle on Formentera were the Carthaginians, and later the Romans. Since the Vandals came, the island lost its entire population. The Arabs conquered the Balearic Island in the middle ages, then the Catalans conquered the island, and Formentera became part of the new Kingdom of Mallorca. That kingdom later became a part of Spain.

The island is primarily dependent on tourism. The majority of visitors come from Germany, the United Kingdom, and from France and Italy. Tourism also deals with other economic activities, such as fishing.

What to see:

You can rent a scooter and explore the island of Formentera. You can also explore the Cap de Barbaria, which is on the other side of the island. It is located in the island’s southwest corner 65 meters above sea level. Cap de Barbaria is one of the most visited and attractive locations in the island of Formentera. Bear in mind that there are no restaurants, stores, or hotels here but it is for sure a perfect spot to watch the sunset.
