Cala Xuclar is a small space that nature created to amaze us. The coves on this north coast of Sant Joan municipality are very similar. They all are of small proportions; their sand is granulated, clear water with abundant marine fauna, surrounded by cliffs and have a chiringuito, a typical beach restaurant.

It is a tiny cove very close to Portinatx in the municipality of Sant Joan; it measures 35 meters in length and 20 meters in width. In this cove, it is common to practice snorkeling, paddle surfing, and kayaking as the tide is calm and the water is smooth and crystalline. Within and outside the shore, the surface is of granulated sand, wearing booties is advisable. There is a restaurant which offers umbrella and sunbed service, howerver, there is no lifeguard here. If you are traveling with kids, you have to watch them because the rocks around can be very slippery.

How to get there:

You can reach S’Illot des Renclí by car or scooter, it is 30 kilometers from Ibiza city and the taxi costs approximately 35 euros. You can get to Portinatx beach by the bus number 20, Eivissa-Sant Lorenç-Portinatx, take a taxi in Portinatx for another 3 kilometers to get to S’Illot des Renclí. Driving, follow the E-10 route to Santa Eulalia. After nine kilometers, you will see the signs of Sant Lorenç, Sant Joan, Sant Antoni on a roadside on the west. There is a roundabout immediately; take the route to Sant Joan on the right then continue towards it. Before arriving Sant Joan town there will be another roundabout, take the road to Portinatx. Drive until you pass Cala Xarraca and S’Illot des Renclí coves. You will reach your destination in just a few minutes. Parking is available in the restaurant area.
Did you know?
Even if Cala des Xuclar had a reasturant, it was considered a secret beach for quite long due to the difficult access. It was a virgin paradise for the locals until the cove began appearing in tourist guides, making it one of the most frequented in the north.
What to see:
During the summer, it is possible to see the sunset in Cala des Xuclar, walk along the cliff on the right, and from that high point, there is a beautiful view of the Cala S’Illot des Renclí and the Mediterranean Sea. At this point on you can see the sunset disappearing into the horizon with its beautiful colors.
What to do:
Take the car and explore Portinaxt, the next beach in the northeast. Portinaxt is a small touristic center where there are hotels, restaurants, bars and the beach is really graceful complete with all services.

Xiringuito Xuclar
There is only one restaurant in this cove, Xiringuito Xuclar, which is a very charming little beach bar in the middle of nature just a few steps from the sea. Here you will taste Mediterranean fusion cuisine, tapas, designer cocktails and fresh non-alcoholic drinks.

To have drinks, you can enjoy it at the Xiringuito Xuclar or go to Portinatx, where there are few bars and restaurants.
To stay, we advise you the Portinatx area where there are many diverse accommodations. Don’t forget to bring fresh water, snacks, diving goggles and booties, if you want to spend the day at Cala des Xuclar.
