Platja des Cavallet
Des Cavallet beach, part of Ses Salines Natural Park, is a beautiful landscape backed by pines and dunes. Clean and hushed, the beach feels untouched—no hotels, no towering buildings in sight. Sabina trees dance with the wind among the dunes that cradle the shore, giving this golden haven an almost surreal beauty.
This beach is mainly known for being the first official nudist beach in Ibiza and a popular meeting point for the gay community. It is very gay-friendly, offering a strong sense of freedom where no one feels judged. Although nudism is common, it is not an exclusive nudist beach: everyone is welcome to enjoy the fresh air, soft white sand, seaside restaurants, crystal-clear waters, and beautiful views of Ibiza town and Formentera.
Identity card:
Type: Sandy Beach, Some rocky points. Shallow
Es Cavallet is a long, wide beach stretching about one kilometer in length and 40 meters in width. Even during high season, it remains relatively quiet and secluded, making it perfect for reading and relaxing after a long night out. There is plenty of space to lie down and enjoy the sun. The sand is white and soft both on the shore and in the water. The sea is shallow, although some areas are rocky.
There are three restaurants, but only two have sunbeds and parasols for rent. From July to August, the sun is too hot; heatstroke could happen.

How to get there:
Geo: 38.840411N / 1.402976E
Es Cavallet is about 9.5–13 km from Dalt Vila (the most central part of Ibiza Town), depending on the route taken.
A taxi ride from Ibiza Town to Es Cavallet typically costs around €20–€25, and takes roughly 18–20 minutes, although final fares depend on traffic, exact pickup points, and time of day.
You can also take the bus toward Ses Salines (bus line 11/L11B) from Ibiza Town; it stops near the road toward the beach.µ
From the closest bus stop, the shore is usually about 10–20 minutes’ walk (roughly 700–1 000 m) to the beach.
From the airport by car, Es Cavallet is approximately 8 kilometers away, in the direction of Ibiza Town.
Did you know?
At the entrance to the beach stands an old ferris wheel that was once used to pump water into the ponds connected to the salt marshes. The name Es Cavallet means “horse” in the Ibizan dialect, and interestingly, it was a horse that powered the wheel by turning it
In 1978, Es Cavallet became an official nudist beach, standing as a pioneer in Spain. Today, it is one of the most famous nude beaches in the world. The beach is far from the partying crowds and the vendors selling club tickets, so you can relax here without feeling hassled. Even during high season, it remains calm and uncrowded, which is why gay visitors and nudists come here to enjoy the sense of freedom and openness.

What to see:
Es Cavallet is located within Ses Salines Natural Park, and the area surrounding the beach is largely untouched nature. Above all, visitors can enjoy the fresh air, native wildlife, and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
As this beach is large, you can take a nice walk to a 3 kilometer trekking route, ending on the end part of Ses Salines beach. Along the way is the Ses Portes Tower, a beautiful viewpoint equidistant between the shores of Ses Salines and Es Cavallet. The tower was built in 1749 as part of the defensive system against pirate incursions. It was one of the first defense towers on the island, together with the one located on the Formentera islet: S’Espalmador to protect the salt ponds, creating a crossfire and prevent any enemy’s vessel to advance. Ses Portes Tower is the closest point to the paradisiac Formentera, from where you can learn how both islands separated millions of years ago.
From Ses Portes Tower, you can continue walking along the coast all the way to Ses Salines Beach. It’s a mesmerizing walk, with views of sabina trees, dunes, the turquoise sea, and numerous small caves where you can relax, snorkel, or take a dip. This section is known as Cala Pluma, which means “Feather Cave.”
A few kilometers before the entrance to Es Cavallet, along the Ses Salines road, lies the parish of Sant Francesc. Next to the church is the Interpretation Center of Ses Salines Natural Park, where you can learn more about Ibiza’s salt history as well as its native flora and fauna.
What to do:
There are no water sports in Es Cavallet unlike Playa d’en Bossa, but when the sea is clear the Mediterranean seabed shows its jewels and we recommend taking a bath with a snorkeling attire.
The only businesses in the area are a few restaurants, including La Escollera, El Chiringuito, and Chiringay.

Where to eat:
As mentioned, you have three really good restaurants on this beach, all with a tasty cuisine and refreshing drinks.

La Escollera
La Escollera kitchen is famous for the best paella on the island for over 20 years like, made with the original recipe of ibizan grandma’s. You can also taste the authentic Spanish and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, including seafood and prime cuts of meat. Note that there are hardly any food choices for vegetarians here. La Escollera is open almost all year with locals frequently seen here. It also has a panoramic view of Formentera island and Ses Portes tower.

What about drinks and hotels?
For drinks, the three beach restaurants also have bars that serve high-quality cocktails, traditional Spanish sangría or tinto de verano, fresh beer, and excellent wines.
For shopping, we recommend taking a walk near Chiringuito restaurant. There is a beautiful beach boutique called Cool Chiringuito on the parking area, where you find trendy and unique beach clothes, bikinis, handbags, bracelets, dresses, t-shirts, etc.
Where to stay ?
The nearest accommodation is in Playa d’en Bossa at 3 kilometers away. Here you have all kinds of housing: the luxurious Hard Rock Hotel, the Ushuaïa Hotel, Grand Palladium Palace Ibiza Resort. As well as tourist apartments and all-inclusive hotels: Hotel Garbi Ibiza, Ibiza Sun Apartments, The Ibiza Twiins, Hotel Playa Sol Bossa Flow, Jet Apartments, etc.
Tips:
During the summer, the entrance to the beach can get busy around midday, so it’s best to arrive early, as traffic jams are common. Be patient when looking for a parking spot—this little paradise is well worth it.
Probably all the sunbeds and parasols are booked in high season, don’t forget your umbrella and water as the sun is intense in the summer.
