Did you know?
The San Antoni bay has changed a lot in the last few decades. In the 1930s, two Ibizencan entrepreneurs built the first two hotels namely Portmany Hotel and Ses Savines Hotel which are still both open up to date. A few years after, a family of exiled German Jews erected the third hotel and many other hotels were built in the area.
The view has radically changed too. What you see now is the sporty port of Sant Antoni and the many buildings that started to rise over the years; at the time, there was only the church, the three hotels and a few houses.
What to see:
If you walk along Sant Agusti Avenue going to San Antonio Bay, you will see many shops, bars with DJs and restaurants with terraces with amazing views.
What to do:
This is Ibiza! Therefore, you have to dance at least once during your holiday. In Ibiza, the electronic music is not the only option; you can dance reggae in the Global Reggae Bar a favorite for tourists and yes, electronic music too in the beautiful terrace of the Sol House Hotel. Both places have DJ’s making the atmosphere lively every day.
Where to eat:
Global Reggae Bar
On some days, we have to break the routine, change places we usually visit, turn the music we usually listen to. The Global Reggae Bar is an opportunity to do something different on your vacation. The accommodation is accessible in this area, lots of hotels and holiday dwellings around. Look at the Sol House Hotel; the view is marvelous from the terrace, the pool, and the rooftop; the design is unique as all the other Mèlia Hotels.
Shopping the basics is not a problem in this area, cala de Bou is part of the Sant Antoni Bay and you can find many shops, boutiques and supermarkets if you walk around.
For drinks, the Global Reggae Bar is a perfect place to have a tropical cocktail relaxing on a hammock. The cocktails on the menu at Sol House Hotel are fun! Moreover, the view from the swimming pool is majestic!
Tips:
If you are looking for silence, tranquility and a private space for your holidays, we recommend the beaches in the north of the island. Try to avoid Sant Antoni Bay, as it is a very touristy area most especially in the summer.
