Platja des Pinet

Platja des Pinet

This is probably the best and most crowded beach in Cala de Bou. Because of its proximity, people often associate it with San Antonio.  Platja des Pinet’s has all the utilities everyone needs such as a car for rent, a cash machine, good hotels, beach restaurants and bars with DJs, stores, as well as water activities.

Identity card:

Type: Sandy Beach

It is 20 meters wide and 100 long with shallow and quiet water perfect for families with kids. It is a white sandy beach with rock at the sides and the white soft sand is very comfortable to lay down on using a towel or renting a sunbed. There is a water sport’s point to rent a kayak and a stand-up paddle table. The Reggae Global Bar offers a hammock and loungers service in a cool chill out area for their customers.

How to get there:

Geo: 38º971043 N / 1º291309 E

Platja des Pinet is 24 kilometers from Ibiza town and 3 kilometers from Sant Antoni town. To get there you can walk from downtown along the bay. The taxi fare is a little over 30 euros if you are coming from Ibiza town. You can also reach it by motorcycle, bus, or ferry. From Sant Antoni bus station, take the bus number L2 or L6. By ferry, go to the Sant Antoni port. By car or motorcycle, drive towards Sant Antoni taking the C-731 road. Once you arrive at the Sant Antoni port, there is a central roundabout with a characteristic Egg of Columbus monument. In this roundabout, take the Sant Agustí Avenue signed as Cala de Bou. The Sant Agustí Avenue goes along the Sant Antoni bay to the southwest. Four kilometers ahead is the road signs Platja des Pinet. You can park on the side of the street or at the beach parking.

Did you know?

Sant Antoni Bay has changed dramatically over the past few decades. In the 1930s, two Ibizan entrepreneurs built the first hotels in the area: the Portmany Hotel and the Ses Savines Hotel, both of which are still operating today. A few years later, a family of German Jews fleeing exile constructed a third hotel, marking another important step in the development of tourism in the bay. Over time, many more hotels and buildings followed.

The landscape has also been radically transformed. Where the modern marina and numerous buildings now stand, there was once only the church, the three original hotels, and a handful of scattered houses. What was once a quiet fishing village has gradually evolved into one of Ibiza’s most vibrant and developed coastal areas.

What to see:

If you walk along Sant Agusti Avenue going to San Antonio Bay, you will see many shops, bars with DJs and restaurants with terraces with amazing views.

What to do:

This is Ibiza! Therefore, you have to dance at least once during your holiday. While the island is famous for electronic music, that’s not your only option. You can enjoy reggae at the Global Reggae Bar, a favorite spot among tourists, or dance to electronic beats on the beautiful terrace of the Sol House Hotel. Both venues feature DJs who keep the atmosphere lively every day.

What about drinks, shops and hotels?

Accommodations in this area are easily accessible, with many hotels and holiday rentals nearby. Take the Sol House Hotel, for example: the views from the terrace, the pool, and the rooftop are truly stunning. Its design is distinctive and stylish, just like the other Meliá Hotels.

Shopping the basics is not a problem in this area, cala de Bou is part of the Sant Antoni Bay and you can find many shops, boutiques and supermarkets if you walk around.

For drinks, the Global Reggae Bar is a perfect place to have a tropical cocktail relaxing on a hammock. The cocktails on the menu at Sol House Hotel are fun! Moreover, the view from the swimming pool is majestic!

Tips:

If you are looking for silence, tranquility and a private space for your holidays, we recommend the beaches in the north of the island. Try to avoid Sant Antoni Bay, as it is a very touristy area most especially in the summer.
