Es Niu Blau

Es Niu Blau

Es Niu Blau

The coast of Santa Eulalia del Rio or Santa Eulària des Riu in the Ibizan dialect has many little dreamy coves where locals usually go for a walk. From the south to the north, you can find numerous masterpieces of nature, like sunbathing spots for tourists, beach huts for fishermen’s boats and a beautiful place for local businessmen to set up their beach bars.

Between the coves Cala Pada and Platja de Ses Estaques is the cove Niu Blau, one of the charming sandy beaches in the white island.

Identity card:

Type: Sandy Beach

Niu Blau has a fine sand that feels great on the toes, however, the bottom of the sea consists of coarse sand. This small stretch of sand is 150 meters long and 15 meters wide and is surrounded by lush pine trees that has been providing refreshing shades most especially in the summer. The water is calm and shallow like a natural swimming pool.

At the height of the summer season, it is normally overcrowded, mostly by families, as it is very close to the resort of Cala Pada.

It has the necessary facilities, such as sun loungers, parasols, a bus stop, a chiringuito, showers and water sports, so everyone can enjoy this lovely cove.

Did you know?

The original name of this cove was S’Estanyol, which shared its name with two coves on the island. One is in the town of Jesus, and the other is in the Bay of Sant Antoni. The reason why the original name was changed is because of the Valencian painter Rigoberto Soler Pérez (1896-1968) and his wife who built a house next to the beach and called it Niu Blau. Locals have recognized this cove as Niu Blau since then.

What to see:

If you like the viewpoints and want to admire the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, you have to go up to Sa Punta de S’Esglèsia Vella, the only cliff in the bay of Santa Eulalia.
