Just a short walking distance from Es Cana is a small beach with laid back and relaxed vibe Cala Martina. It is located in the east of the island in Santa Eulària des Riu municipalities. Since this serene beach is not very popular to tourists as well as the locals, peace and comfort are assured. It is though one of the most popular beaches for windsurfers and hippies.
This island’s northeast region is peaceful making it a perfect place for couples and families due to its relaxed surroundings far away from the noise of parties.

Cala Martina is a soft, sandy beach with crystal clear water and surrounded by trees. It is 150 meters long and 20 meters wide with outstanding facilities for water-sports. It has two fantastic beach restaurants at either end and a camping site on the left of the cove right next to the sea called the Camping La Playa.
This beach is not a touristy as the other beaches nearby, so rest assured that you will be able to enjoy your day with your entire family. The facilities available in this beach are loungers, showers, parasols, bars, camping site, wheelchair access, parking, hotels and restaurants. There are also a good number of water sports to do in this beach like snorkeling, diving, windsurfing and many more. There are many water sports outlets and dive schools just off of the beach.

How to get there:

Cala Martina can be reached by bus, taxi, car or scooter. It is 17 kilometers from Ibiza Town. Taxi costs approximately 30 euros which might be too much if you are on a budget. On the other hand, taking the bus is cheaper and more fun. Bus number L13 bound for Santa Eulària can be taken from Eivissa town. From the town of Santa Eulària hop on to another bus, L18B, bound for Cala Martina and Es Canar.
If you prefer driving, the beach can be reached by car or scooter from Santa Eularia, the travel time is about ten minutes with well sign posted road. In addition, you can also reach Cala Martina by foot or bicycle from Es Cana. Parking is quite difficult so it is best to pay a parking space next to the market.
Did you know?
In 1970s, the hotel Azuline Club Cala Martina started as a bungalow timeshare property. Over time, when tourism eventually entered the island’s north-eastern part, several of the units were bought from their owners to establish a hotel. The hotel that once was called Club Punta Arabi changed its name to Azuline Club Cala Martina in 2006.
What to see:
One of the most interesting to see in Cala Martina is the reggae live music at bar Chirincana. You will also see a lot of interesting things and people at the Hippie Market every Wednesday.
You can walk along the coastline to the right so get to some beautiful houses, other small beaches and wooded areas. And of course, you will see a lot of people doing all sorts of different water activities.
What to do:
There are several water sports outlet and diving center in Cala Martina. Snorkeling, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, stand-up paddling, kayaking and pedal boats, any water sports you want to try is in this beach.
Go shopping to one of the oldest and biggest markets every Wednesday, the Hippie Market Punta Arabi, even if you do not plan to buy anything, it is worth visiting this market as you will see awesome items that you probably cannot find anywhere else.
On the other hand, you can also go to another famous market, the Las Dalias Hippy Market every Saturday in San Carlos. A colorful event that will definitely make your Ibiza journey more memorable.

Restaurante Cala Martina
This restaurant serves lunch, dinner and late night dining and it features outside seating with peaceful atmosphere overlooking the sea. It is also the perfect place to try one of the best paellas on the island and is very well known for locals, so you will see a nice mix of locals and tourists when you dine here. Do not forget to make a reservation if you plan to come here on a Sunday as it gets really crowded.

Sa Trenka restaurant
If you are looking for a restaurant that also serves something for vegetarians, look no further because Sa Trenka Restaurant has your back. Another restaurant that is well known to locals, this place is situated in lovely location where you can watch the moon rise over the sea in the bay if you are lucky. The portions are huge and the price is definitely worth it because rest assured that the food served on your table is always fresh. Just like the other restaurant mentioned above, this restaurant also serves good paella as well as filled with locals on a Sunday.

What about drinks, shops and hotels?
For drinks, Chirincana Café serves both food and drinks. It has good music and good vibe and has a good view where you can sit all day to watch the world go by. The two restaurants Sa Trenka and Restuarante Cala Martina serves drinks as well.
For shopping, aside from the famous Hippie Market Punta Arabi where you can find hundreds of stalls and good finds, you can also check out Buddha Shop in Es Cana to skip the big crowd. They sell unique decorations that cannot be found in other stores. You can find them at the Sant Jordi Market every Saturday.

Tips:
Cala Martina is very close to Es Cana. If you like walking, it is only a short leisurely walk away and you will find plenty of accommodations here as well.
If you have been wanting to try windsurfing but has not found the time to do so, your trip to Ibiza, specifically in Cala Martina will be the best opportunity as this beach is the best place for both professional and beginner windsurfers.
