Did you know?

In the old times, before the touristic exploitation, the Ibizan people lived mainly from fishing. Cala Jondal was an exceptional cove, its open geography and the inclined outcrop made it unsuitable as a fishing port. In its vicinity, a few farming families lived together, taking advantage of the last bend of the plain that preceded the shore to cultivate cereals and the traditional fruit trees of Ibiza.

In 1980’s the Ibizan tourist demand increased, Es Jondal, however, began to popularize as a beach of boats. It was at that moment when the first beach restaurant opened its doors to offer meals and sunbeds to the crew who utilized the coast.

What to see:

Though there is not much to see in the cove of Platja Es Jondal, you can take a short walk to the nearby beach Sa Caleta or Es Bol Nou where you will find the most essential piece of the Island’s history the oldest Phoenician settlement from the eight-century B.C before Ibiza was discovered.
