Mind you, that walking or cycling is dangerous because the road in this area is narrow, lumpy and has curves.

Cala Jondal is around 17 kilometers from Dalt Vila and the Ibiza main port, the most central location in town.

Did you know?

In the old times, before the touristic exploitation, the Ibizan people lived mainly from fishing. Cala Jondal was an exceptional cove, its open geography and the inclined outcrop made it unsuitable as a fishing port. In its vicinity, a few farming families lived together, taking advantage of the last bend of the plain that preceded the shore to cultivate cereals and the traditional fruit trees of Ibiza.

In 1980’s the Ibizan tourist demand increased, Es Jondal, however, began to popularize as a beach of boats. It was at that moment when the first beach restaurant opened its doors to offer meals and sunbeds to the crew who utilized the coast.

What to see:

Though there is not much to see in the cove of Platja Es Jondal, you can take a short walk to the nearby beach Sa Caleta or Es Bol Nou where you will find the most essential piece of the Island’s history the oldest Phoenician settlement from the eight-century B.C before Ibiza was discovered. It is on a red earth cliff from where you have a large landscape view and magnificent views of yachts anchored offshore.

What to do:

The beach restaurants Blue Marlin and Tropicana are your spots to do aside from enjoying the magical view in the cove and listening to the beautiful sound of the water hitting the pebbles or snorkeling.

The luxurious Blue Marlin hosts cool parties with top international DJs. Big names in the electronic music industry such as Pete Tong, Culoe de Song, Sven Väth, Marco Carola, Erick Morillo, Agoria and many more can play any afternoon. Be prepared to dance all afternoon and enjoy the elegant open space with a glass of champagne in your hand.

On the other side, Tropicana hosts tropical parties, live music; dancers invite you to move with the samba, salsa, and merengue rhythms. If you feel like having a massage, the side of the Tropicana Beach Club is a massage area.
