Cala Bassa

Cala Bassa is a beautiful long sandy beach in the municipality of Sant Josep close to San Antoni Bay but somewhat disconnected from urbanizations and touristic centers. Juniper trees back it and some rocks on the side. The municipality of Sant Josep has prepared the beach for the popular tourism, water activities, showers and wooden ramps for the disabled without taking away the essence of being on the beach where you can find peace in a Mediterranean environment. It is a perfect place to relax all day long.

Did you know?

A sailor recorded a sea turtle near the Cala Bassa beach in May 2019. The Sea turtle is not a Balearic coastal animal, in fact, experts claim that the sea turtles are more regularly visiting the Pitiusas due to climate change and the eastern Mediterranean is the natural environment of those animals to lay their eggs. Since that area is becoming warmer, the Marine turtles are dispersing to Italy to find a better habitat.

What to see:

There is a rocky platform at the beginning of the beach and in the center, there is a large hole to leap to the shore. It is called cave Cala Bassa. You can swim out under the cave, if you jump in the water.

What to do:

One of the many things to do in Cala Bassa is Jet Ski. There is a jetski center here with professional instructors if you want to book the activity.

If you prefer a more laid-back activity, then do not forget to bring your goggles for snorkeling to appreciate an entirely natural environment, as Cala Bassa has vivid translucent water, rich with flora.  There are also kayak and pedals for rent if you fancy that too.

Cala Bassa beach club is a trendy spot to rest in a comfortable and elegant lounge chair and dance to electronic music.
