Cala Tarida is in a sheltered bay on west coast of Ibiza. It is one of the most famous beaches in the San Jose municipality not only because it represents paradise earth but also because the shallow waters are perfect for safe bathing.
It is in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia near to San San Antonio and San Jose. Locals and tourists come here to spend the day lying down on the wide sandy beach which is 300 meters in length and 60 meters in width. There are coves beside the main beach, islets, cliffs and rocks separate it. Plenty of spot to wander and plenty of water activities to do as well as beach volleyball net, dive centers, pedalos and jet ski for rent. If you want to rest on a sunbed, there are a lot of parasols.

How to get there:

The breathtaking Cala Tarida is about 25 kilometers from the town of Ibiza, you can get there by driving a car and taking a cab for 35 euros. Other option is to take the bus. Take the line L38 Cala Tarida-Sant Josep-Eivissa and get off in Cala Tarida bus stop. Last but not the least is, navigate on a private boat from the Sant Antoni port or the Ibiza port.
From Ibiza town, take the way EI-700 to Sant Josep. Pass the Sant Josep town, after the last traffic light, continue one kilometer by the route to San Antoni until you see the signs on the left to Cala Vedella, Cala Tarida, Cala d’Hort. Continue towards Cala Tarida which is 15-minute drive from San Jose.
Did you know?
At the right side of the beach is the islet Sa Sabata, it is called “the shoe” due to its shoe shape. You can reach it by swimming. And for what? To jump into the water! Wink!

What to do:
Scuba diving is one of the top activities to enjoy in Cala Tarida. Several diving centers offer courses for beginners and experienced divers alike, allowing you to explore the vibrant underwater world—a truly unforgettable Ibiza experience. Snorkeling and freediving are also fantastic ways to discover the ocean floor, swimming among colorful fish in the shallow waters right before you.
Beyond water activities, Cala Tarida offers plenty more to do. You can enjoy lively moments at the famous Cotton Beach Club, or explore the bay on foot. Trekking along the coast reveals charming hidden coves, and on the right side of the beach, you’ll come across traditional fishermen’s huts housing boats—a glimpse into local life that adds to the charm of this beautiful spot.
If you are not into those activities, you can also rent pedalos or play volleyball by the beach.

There are plenty of accommodations in this area. The beach is surrounded by hotels and touristic flats, like the all-inclusive Hotel Playa Sol Cala Tarida or Ses Pitreras exclusive hotel.
There are also a good number of shops in Cala Tarida and and you can find a few directly at the beach. For more exclusive shopping try the Cotton Beach Club or drive to San Antoni, Playa d’en Bossa and Ibiza town.
